Hello Friends,
Clyde's fix for my '85 Testarossa's intermittent starter problem is genius. The car starts instantly now that the solenoid is fed with a high current supply via a secondary relay. Well done Clyde!
On another topic, you may be aware that my early Euro Testarossa has suffered from an idle instability problem. Charles Perry's early TR has precisely the same problem.
Over the past few days I added a balance pipe between the CPRs, like the later cars have. It seems to help but doesn't eliminate the problem entirely. Air flow is nicely balanced and fuel:air ratio is right. It just doesn't want to idle smoothly at 1000rpm.
So I have found that if I set the idle speed to 1500rpm (hot), the idle is smooth. That's an acceptable work-around. There's still a problem with the engine dying after a hard blip.
Please share your constructive advice. I have asked the same of FerrariCHAT. Thanks.
