BTW, this whole discussion is why I'm very grateful that motorcycles exist.

A very direct experience. Even if automatics become popular, I doubt they would ever eliminate the pure manual. 

If you think about it.....there's only so much you can do to add technology to those things -- ABS brakes, traction control? 

Love them, just hope we won't be relegated to getting these purist experiences from 2 wheels only.

Sadly, I don't think the simpler car that I crave, would find a market. There are just too few of us. Most buyers want cars that are safety cells, not motorcars. And safety cells that park themselves, brake automatically, warn you if you drift lanes while txting, etc.. What today's buyer wants is mass transit without the 'mass' bit.
