A twist, a crash, a model, and torque (oh my!)

Rick L. bemoaned the lack of “simpler” cars these days.  In June ’13, I saw Ian Callum (Chief designer at Jaguar) speak on the development of the new F-Type.  Someone asked why they didn’t make it smaller and lighter, more like the original E-Type.  He responded that, due to gov’t regs (things like side intrusion bars in the doors, air bags all over the place, etc.), the F is as small and light as they could possibly get it.
Fellippe remarked about gov’t “saving us from ourselves”, etc., and someone else (or was it still FG – sorry!) commented on folks surviving crashes which they probably shouldn’t.  What is it that Clyde always says about flying?  It’s “self cleansing”.  Driving an automobile used to be that way, too.
Larry – GREAT job on the Mondial model!  I love it!
Rick M. wrote, “Torque provides acceleration, Horsepower sustains torque.”  Here’s another one I like, put into NASCAR terms – “Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how hard you hit the wall.”  <grin>
