Aren't you old enough to realize that freedom is a marketing slogan, you're not in control, you only play the role that you may or not have had a choice in playing.  Life is but a game, a game with rules, and the winners rig the game in their favor, see the last 7000 years of documented human history.  There are blips when things go "right", followed by the inevitable decline once rent seeking behaviors come back up to the surface.

Since you brought up honor, I'll dig back to grade 9 English...

This life, which had been the tomb of his virtue and of his honor, is but a walking shadow; a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Doesn't matter which set of rules you play by, in the end we're all dead anyway.  We've lost the moral high ground generations ago; having seen the system on the inside, I doubt we really ever had it.  von Clausewitz nailed it when he said war is nothing more than politics by other means...

If you truly believe that someone's duty to country and military service can be repaid with every dime you've ever made you're delusional in a very sad way.

Money doesn't cover a life.

Money doesn't pay for that operator who's just HALOed way behind the lines just to breach a doorway and put one shot in the head of your captor while his mates did the same to the rest of the lot.

Money doesn't pay for the feeling when some FAC just saved your ass by clearing the way for a fast extract.

Money doesn't pay for that little girl who just lost her father so you can sit on your duff while others risk their lives to secure your freedom.

While you're smugly telling us about your tax bracket, remember that the only reason you HAVE freedom is because of those who died to preserve it for you.

Of course, maybe you're right and those who risk their lives should walk to join a defense contractor and when you're speaking Russian or Mandarin and your assets have been seized by the state you'll look back and say "Wow, I really wish I had more respect for the men and women serving our country".

Then again, those with a sense of duty won't abandon their post in search of a buck. Honor is priceless.

Nope, but at my tax level, I likely have paid for the retired O-6 that lives across the street.  My long travel days are at most 36 hours, but I do nap up front in business class and I make use of the chargers on the plane...

My issue with the Apple Watch has nothing to do with the design (I actually really like it), or function (from all accounts, it works well), but it's battery life. How the hell do you design a watch that can't even last a full 24 hour day without charging?!?!?

Tell me more about these cats and guns you mention.

I think the cosmos yawned itself inside out at the sight of iWatch.  $500 to $1100 (ish) for a watch that doesn't do everything Samsung offers (camera, waterproof ... the Apple watch is splash proof, not submersible) and the Samsung Gear 2 is $300 with a nice metal clasp that has proven durable.
Now that it's a functional device decision, not really a quality or technology leapfrog, I see no compelling benefit to change, and I pity the fool wearing a $10K Apple froufrou bracelet and not expecting to be laughed out of the bar ...
