There are financial-market forces at play making people decide that this is a "safe bet" to store/invest money now. I have serious beliefs that this has gone beyond an enthusiast's market but into an investor's market (the investors are car guys now, but I bet the primary reason is for investment, second for the car).
This is paltry compared to the housing market here in Vancouver: http://globalnews.ca/news/1909369/east-vancouver-home-sells-for-500000-over-asking-price/ There will be a time when it WILL come down. This happened back in the early to mid '90s. In respect to Vancouver properties, "they" have been saying there is going to be a correction, or crash, but I just don't see that happening anytime soon, not for the fact other forces are at play, to keep it that way. Now, there's no reason cars like these are worth THAT much, but all it takes is one guy to want it NOW, before he drops dead, to say he owned an (insert car here) at least once in his life, to drive prices up. It's a generational thing. At one time, vintage and brass-era cars were the rage, but prices have leveled off, as most people who would have had an interest (and relation to it) are all dead now. The guys who have the money now are driving this current generation ('50s to '70s) of cars up. 15 to 20 years from now, we'll see dusty, rusty 348s and Mondials advertised at insane prices. ;) Peter From: robertgarven [at] earthlink.net Date: Tue, 31 Mar 2015 19:29:49 -0700 Subject: [Ferrari] Fwd: 1967 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage by Gullwing Motor Cars CC: ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com To: dino308gt4 [at] hotmail.com Freinds, What is up with these cars that used to be junk and now pricelesss antiquities, It would seem to me unless it was rare race car or something really special it would cost far more just to get to not falling apart than its worth? I guess this is better than the 365 GT that was sitting outside in CA for the last 20 years but still, to me the people that wn these cars are criminals, at some point let someone else have it if you are going to sit on it until it rust to dust! just my 2 cents Begin forwarded message: Date: March 31, 2015 at 2:22:08 PM PDT From: Gullwing Motor Cars <sales [at] gullwingmotorcars.com> Reply-To: sales [at] gullwingmotorcars.com Subject: 1967 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage by Gullwing Motor Cars
