I’m not that familiar with BMW but I have heard there is an oil filter placement in some model a few years back that must have been designed by a guy who knew he was going to fired and this was his last job.  The oil filter is easily replaced - - - when the engine is out of the car.

And designed by engineers who drank at lunch.

And yes, you can still get beer at lunch at BMW's corporate offices in Munich. It explains a lot...

308 GTS Ferrari – I am convinced that they were put together by very bright 7 year olds whose arms were elastic and could bend a minimum of 3 angels.  The front undercover chin spoiler seems to be held on by 376 rusted 5mm bolts with nyloc nuts and what isn’t bolted in such fashion is pop riveted.  And THIS is the stuff you can get to.

I’m with you Clyde – I’d rather change out both propulsion units on an F-5A.

What is the dashboard made out of on the TR? On my GT4, it's chopped-strand fiberglass.

I've had to replace the speedo, oil pressure and water temperature gauges in my car... Not a lot of room behind there for the wiring (rats nest big time!).

P.S. Did you include photos with this email? I don't see any if you did. I tried sending an email to the 'List a while ago with photos and it never made it.

It’s pretty straight forward actually

The big thing is when you take the dash POD out there are 2 channels which hold the pod in alignment at the bottom

If you are just swapping gauges it’s not a big deal

I was swapping pods so it took some trial and error and remember that the rear of the pod has 2 lip/channels that lock into place

you have to get that in first before you lower the pod into place and line up the channels at the bottom

also don’t remove the 2 nuts on the channels just loosen them enough to raise the pod out of the car.

Mark the 2 large white cables that go to the tach and speedo they look the same so just mark one so when you re install it will be a no brainer

After you get it all back together turn the master battery on( you did turn it off first didn’t you?) and check all the functions and I mean everything to include rear window de fog and fog lamps

Re install the lower bolster and youre done

It will take 2 people to re install the lower bolster other than that this is a one man job
