No reason it wouldn't Peter. My scope is digital. An inductive pickup is just a 
signal source, a coil of wire around part of a soft iron core with an opening 
through which the plug wire slips.

Even more informative than advance timing is the actual shape of the ignition 
pulse. Could be interesting.
