That's why I think it is more heat transfer related with the engine.  Where is the temp sensor positioned on the 512TR?

That's where I think the problem is anyway after 20 plus years and over 100k miles on them the thermal efficiency has most likely gone down a little just enough to make the temps rise 

Re torquing the heads is not advised as per the book and many I have passed this suggestion too.

While I had the engine out I should have done this, so take heed.

I did everything else why not that!

I could have had a V8(TV commercial)
