Thank Charles and Grahame –

One the painting process - - The windshield stayed in.  Molding removed.  This is the second windshield in this car.  I find that a used Ferrari (or any ‘priceless marque’) is similar to a beautiful 35 year old single women - - - you know there are stories but do you really want to know?  Well, in the case of the Ferrari – a resounding YES.  But like the princess, she’s truthful to a point – other clues come out in drips and drabs.

Curses, but thanks for the comments – gads Charles, 40 hours?  Ah can’t wait.  I’m on my way down there now.

DOUG

These were also cars from the hand built era. There’s no guarantee that OEM parts have an OEM fit. When I had my TR accident years ago the repair shop got the last OEM TR rear quarter panel in the US for the replacement. It took nearly 40 hours of hand-fitting to make that factory part fit my factory car, and that was with no frame damage whatsoever – just crumpled sheet metal from fender contacting exiting wheel.

Given my shop was beyond meticulous in the repair, but even factory parts can be “best guess” from that era.

Hey Doug,

Sorry you are having this problem. So I gather the car was repainted with all glass taken out and for whatever reason you had to replace the screen. But did the panel shop also do some work on the body – cutting and patching around the window, pulling the chassis to straighten, etcetera. In other words, is the new glass out of whack or is the window hole now somehow ½” out of whack?

Cheers,

Grahame

P.S. Hi to Terri

Okay - to be serious... where did the windscreen come from? If it's originally from ANYONE other than a dealer or Maranello in the UK, then it won't be genuine, and won't be guaranteed to fit. It may have come from either of those but via a third party (Ferrparts for example) which would be okay, but ask whoever it was where it came from and let us know.
