Waze is the way to go
It's real time intelligence on a dynamic threat
Radar detectors are no longer needed
With the speed limit at 70 and 80 being accepted as ok,this coupled with waze in my part of the world (the  south east) captures most if not all the threats
I don't speed in urban areas
The road surface and drivers with less than acceptable SA (situation awareness) are too numerous
Maybe it's me since I have lived the better part of my life above .80 Mach and now I am slowing down a little
Enjoy the holidays guys

$50 ia  bargain.  And 18 years?  Have they really been around that long?  Time flies.
I updated a couple of units over the last five years, variously around $100 +/- $25 each time depending upon the age.  Each time, they just sent a new unit.  i think there were cheaper updates on offer while retaining the old (larger) unit.
Nowadays, the V1 is annoying difficult around the Bay Area, falsing on traffic cams and adaptive cruise controls and LED headlights, etc.  Ho hum.
I see Escort finally copied the 360 (dual antenna) format.  I might give it a try.  I noticed they (Escort) now try to sting you with a subscription fee for data updates ... such small thinking.  The world is moving to free and $0.99 cent apps with corporations hitting billion dollar valuations ... and folks at the radar detector vendors can't figure out how to leverage a product that should be in use worldwide by millions of drivers.  Valentine tried their hand at an app, but it doesn't seem to do much and it's a bit cumbersome to set up for each short drive.  Seems to me that with Waze and Google Maps, social media for driver and traffic, navigation and avoiding speed traps, surely Escort of the big V could figure out how to latch onto every Uber driver (?) or something ... : )

p.s. Anyone using/happy with the new Escort 360?

Can’t resist more kudos for my V1 radar detector.  Not only has it saved me $1000’s over its 18yr life span, when it finally gave up the ghost I sent it back to Valentine for repair, and they unilaterally repaired it and shipped it back to me for the grand cost of ……. $0.00  !!

Now that is customer service!  And a great product to boot….
