Was that Monty Meersma?  If so, he is the Monty who bought Ben Kao's Rosso 
Nearco 400i 5 speed with the tubi exhaust.   I looked at and drove Ben's car in 
1998 but ended up buying my silver/black 5 speed from Laguna Beach later that 
year. 

I remember the stories about the Hallet adventure, a real watershed event in 
cementing friendships on the FList that still endure nearly 20 years later.  
Wish I could have been there.
