At least far as "good condition" Daytona's go (which is the only cars I
really follow)(and note that this excludes any truly low-production
cars)(and excludes any "condition 1" cars or "condition 4" cars), the
sequence of peaks-and-valleys is something like this:

1995: $500k
2000: $125k
2005: $400k
2010: $200k
2015: $700k

My impression was that in 2010-ish valley, not that many cars moved, but in
the 2000 valley, there was a lot of sales activity.  Personally, I think
this is because the 2005 peak was not driven so much by speculation.

The current peak might be more like the 1995 peak, so I would think that
$200 levels might be reached again.  Though obviously, I'm biased, because I
still fantasize about trying to buy one... :)

That said, I'm not 100% convinced that prices are going to plummet anytime
soon.  I think most of the buyers in the US in the last few years have been
from the US (at least for things like Daytonas), and nothing is really
crashing here at the moment, other than oil prices.

A funny thing that one seller told me back in the 2010 valley was that a
surprising amount of the Daytona market is made up of car dealership owners
(the guy was a dealership owner himself), and thus, Daytona's got cheap when
car sales tanked.  If true, things don't look good for me... :)

Sadly, I actually want prices to hold for a bit longer, because I'm in no
position to shop for anything for a good while.

This peak is about 2-3X the late 80's peak and the lows after that got to
probably down to 20% of peak on a very rough recollection.

Remember, past performance is not indicative of future results, your mileage
may vary and contents may have settled during shipping!  ?
