cLyDe, I agree with you on everything, but I suspect the lack of Ferraris seen in Paris has more to do with government chasing after the rich for avoiding paying their taxes. I'm not sure if it was urban fable, or true, but a tactic set up in Italy was a road block on a road to a resort where the Guardia di Finanzia (sp?) nailed Ferrari and other exotic owners for tax evasion (when checked out, most of the owners had filed taxes stating false, ridiculously low income).
One time when crossing the border into Washington state with my 308, the border guard asked me what I did for a living; "I'm a welder and fabricator" said I. "Nice car" was his reply. He let me in after a few more questions, but I guess he was curious to
know how a young-ish looking guy could be driving a Ferrari. I guess he didn't realize a simple welder COULD afford a 308 GT4

Yea you will always have the one off auction hype but that's not the market
Menlo Park in California has the highest per capita income in the nation
You don't see Ferraris in the garage there
Gen Xers don't see the "all that ness " in owning a Ferrari
Even in Paris where there has always been money
At the corner of St.Germain and cafe du flour just up the street from my apartment
There on a Friday night there would always be a red horse
Was there last just after Christmas for the last 2 New Year's Eve's
No Ferraris to be seen anywhere !

Like I have always said buy it because you like it and drive the paint off it!
