Uh yea that's what I've been saying all along the new generation could care less about all this high priced old  shit
It's old money that running around with its head cut off doing the crazy buying at the auctions
You don't see any young people at the auctions
There all my age trying to relive there youth
And it's even starting to show in the art market where prices are down as well
Sotheby's took a huge hit last quarter with its sales
People with money, that is new money are starting to wake up
Pay what $45 million for some scribbling on a canvas that someone said is all that!
Please
I am watching this new found surge in pricing on the 550/575 at the $150k mark
What a fucking joke that is
And parts are always going to be an issue
Unless you have a CNC machine and someone to run it
Those who will buy at that price might as well go to Vegas !
The odds are better

New money wants cars that work and have a/c and good brakes and a good sound system
Not a Ferrari GTO without seat belts and no air bag and no where to put the car seat!

You had better buy it because you like it because you can't eat it!

Gotta go
See all of you In Montreal

In victory you deserve Champagne
In defeat you need it!

Scars are Tattoos with better stories !

If you follow all the rules
You miss all the fun!

If you have no enemies, you have no character !

P.S. As an example in regards to the R&T article, a co-worker who is ten years younger than me (making him at the tail end of Gen X and the beginning of Millenials), when we were on the subject of sky-high prices at lunch time at work, pointed to a $300K+ price achieved for a 330 GT 2+2 at an auction said: "who the hell would pay that much for that ugly piece of s***?" There are A LOT of people his age that don't give a sweet damn about these old cars that I/we treasure... A LOT of people... And he's a car-guy through and through (into Japanese stuff. FD RX-7, Toyota Corrolla SR-5, etc. Probably has owned 30, 40 cars. In the midst of doing a Ford Coyote V-8 conversion of an RX-7).

Good article.

Michael Sheehan's article about "The Generaltional Shift" is a good one

PS: My 2000 550 Maranello is going to be for sale soon.
I've had it for eight years and I think it's time to move on.
