I had a fairly new RX7 and that was barely on the radar at my school.
Off the top of my head I can remember:
Porsche 930 (freshman girl owned it and lived in the high rise dorms)
Benz S600 (another freshman girl)
Testarossa (frat boy)
308 GTSi
Countless BMW M5s, M6s, 911s, Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, Supra Turbos, Z28s, 300ZXTT, and every other new hot car.
Lots of cash flowing in and out of campus every day.
Now that I think about it, even my high school was pretty good. A kid in my gym class had a '70 Roadrunner 6-pak that was *perfect*. Another had a brand new Buick Grand National.
I often rode to school in my neighbor's new Mustang GT and we routinely hit 120mph on the way.

When I was in college, one of the *rich* students drove a Porsche 924. Hmmm... Is that a sign of the times (both then and now), or simply a commentary on the caliber of school I went to?? (it was thought to be fairly prestigious at the time, though certainly no "MIT" or anything like that....)
:-)
