I'm glad to hear you got a refund. Yes, like I mentioned before, the CBSA
doesn't care what it is, but they simply look at the value stated on the
declaration and charge the applicable tax.

Was it because you requested it, or was the U.S. company audited?

Peter

Subject: [Ferrari] Refund from Canada Customs

Remember my saga about Canada Customs charging me $69.26 in duty fees for
having my clock (with replacement glass) returned to me ? The company had
written a value of $300. for the clock on the invoice, so I paid duty on that.
Well exactly 2 months later I got a refund today of $52.71
I think they charged me taxes on repair cost.

if there are any Canadian listers, make sure you demand the u.s. company writes
something about that, like repaired item, on the invoice.

I’m a lucky man!
