I'm glad to hear you got a refund. Yes, like I mentioned before, the CBSA doesn't care what it is, but they simply look at the value stated on the declaration and charge the applicable tax. Was it because you requested it, or was the U.S. company audited? The company had written a value of $300. for the clock on the invoice, so I paid duty on that. Well exactly 2 months later I got a refund today of $52.71 I think they charged me taxes on repair cost. if there are any Canadian listers, make sure you demand the u.s. company writes something about that, like repaired item, on the invoice.
