Well, I've read through all of these responses and, WOW!  HR is, for me, one of the toughest and most disliked aspects of any business/employment.

First, one of my concerns/stresses/confusions in this situation is that Lewis, for better or for worse, was in fact also fighting for a championship.  Granted, his chances were far, FAR slimmer than Nico's, but still there.  So why wouldn't he do everything possible to win it?  He of all drivers knows (from his first championship) that it *can* be won in the last turn of the last lap.  So in my view, it's not so much a question of what should MB do to/about Lewis, but should MB have issued that instruction at all?  I think not.  Perhaps Paddy Lowe could have gotten on both radios at once and reminded them of Spain - and to NOT repeat that scenario.  Just a thought....

I have the utmost respect for Clyde's thoughts here, but do have to question his assertion below that Lewis "will never drive for a top tier team after this act".

With Clyde's prior statements about Alonso being the "best driver on the grid" not withstanding, let's rewind to 2007 when Alonso threw his own team under the bus during the Hungarian GP qualifying and, worse yet, attempted to blackmail his own employer, demanding #1 driver status.  Subsequent investigation found Alonso did know about the stolen Ferrari data, but only threatened to expose it when Ron Dennis refused his demand.  It was Dennis who went straight to the FIA and reported the stolen data.  Where is Dennis now?  And Alonso?  Hired back to Renault.  Then hired by Ferrari (which utterly disgusted me).  Then hired *BACK* to McLaren (SERIOUSLY??????  WHAT WERE THEY THINKING???).

So F1 teams either have very short memories (read, *VERY* short!!), or simply don't care as much as Clyde suspects about such selfish antics.

Finally, as a tangential aside, didn't we see Flavio Briatore among the "glitterati" shown during the pre-race activities?  Didn't Briatore get a lifetime ban from F1 after the Renault "crash-gate" scandal following the 2008 Singapore GP?

Ah, what would F1 be without a little drama?  Oh yeah, a pretty neat racing series!  sigh.......

Lewis will be finished after the next season
No top team will deal with his attitude and lack of taking orders
He will never drive for a top tier team after this act
All the teams talk to each other
He is done
No car
No win
