In all seriousness, even though a car like that in face REALLY DID take a HUGE hit in depreciation just off the lot and through the years, there is still serious demand. And if I wanted one and both were the same but one had a carfax hit, it would take a discount for me to make them equal -- that's exactly what diminished value is. I have a friend here in town (Virginia) who does these type of appraisals for insurance, for individuals, and in court as an expert witness. He's part of a network of appraisers, and I can get him to refer you to someone local if you'd like.

Client was sideswiped in a 2006 flying spur.  Required replacement of bumper cover and fender. Paint from nose to drivers side door.

So, since I have the brain trust - looking to see if there is a valid basis for a diminished value claim.   Seems to me that at 50k miles and 10 years the cars is close to the bottom of its value range - limiting the value of the DV claim.

Would appreciate your thoughts
