Nick Mason is a genuine professional driver. He has raced in LeMans more than once. He is a big Ferrari collector and other exotic cars. His company 10/10th (or something like that) owns most of his cars. I don’t understand why some are laughing at him.
Accidents happen. The best of them have crashed numerous times in their career.

I've heard he is a decent driver, too. He was driving it the way it was intended and sometimes shit happens. It's just a car, it can be fixed. I'll bet he was having fun.
He has other cars that are worth far more than that and rarer, too. Pick up his book "Into The Red" (UK version with the CD included) and see and hear some of them.
I think he is a genuine enthusiast. He just can afford that stuff but that doesn't make him a gauche poseur.
Just MHO.

What happened?
He is a decent driver from what I have seen before.
Goodwood is a small and bumpy circuit for that car.
Let's see, this is hard.
We don't need no, traction control.
Another Mc in the wall.
