Are we talking about the 348 from a 1990 point of view?

I had one years ago and it was great. Never had one issue with it.

I have four friends who have had 348s for almost 10 years now and they have been great cars. No problems.

There is no way I'm defending the piece of shit that is the 348.

Only the Mondial.

And not the t version.

And I only bought 33% of my Ferraris from a Ferrari dealer, reputable or not.

Sorry Erik
Ask any reputable Ferrari dealer about the 348
It was a bomb
Service bulletins out the ass
Best Ferrari overall in the 3 series is the 328

The Mondial was the first car Ferrari did using CAD.  It handles much better as a GT car than the 308 does, but it does suffer a power to weight issue.  When I upgraded the wheels to 16" replica Superformance rims with high quality Michelin Pilot Sport rubber, it is a very fun car to drive, just keep your foot in it.

And you can maintain it with a decent set of Snap-On tools with minimal reading comprehension in Italian.

YMMV,
Erik

But a glorious noise in both cases, right?

They also have a propensity to go through rear shock absorbers. There was one 456 for sale that listed the service history and those rear shocks were literally changed out on a yearly basis - and they ain't cheap either! They also seem to have a problem with that automatic door window-dropping sequence, where after a while they get stuck open about 3/4"... And can't go back up.

As for the locale. I saw one 456 parked in the lot of our local Dollarama - a Canadian retail chain of dollar stores - so that's gotta beat Walmart, doesn't it? It was in far better shape than this example though.

Yeah – 456’s are, generally, nice looking – just be careful of reverse gear.  Be gentle.

Yesterday in the local Walmart parking lot - so, not quite the actual Ghetto - I saw this poorly treated and somewhat unloved 456.  Covered in filth.  Paint and panel issues.  Torn dash and withered seats.
