I had a 1984 308  GTB Q.V. that’s far from a TUNA CAN carb fiberglass 308 that I was referring too!

I put 140K on that car and should have never sold it 

I bought that car from Sheldon Ferrari in FLL with 10K on it 

My A/C worked only because I charged it every year!

Oh for the record I have thrown up in combat

A '70 911E I think sold at an auction for somewhere between $160-180k....nice car, but not 180k nice IMO (unless Carrera RS maybe).

Everything that you find desirable is a lot more $ than you'd feel comfortable spending it on. 348s and 355s, even 360s and 430s in recent years seem to be "reasonable"...

A 21 window VW bus for the prices I hear them going for is too insane; only the Jay Lenos of the world can justify them.

However, I did have an encounter in the Twilight Zone recently:

I was watching "Car Chasers" I think it's called.....they picked up an old Buick Grand National for $10k and a Pontiac muscle car (not a GTO) for about $22k....and they flipped them for minimal profit...maybe $4k for the GN and $6k for the Pontiac.

They weren't in terrible condition either.....looked pretty reasonable, and assuming "numbers matching".

My only thoughts were "what's this 1998 show doing on the air in 2018???"....haha.

The middle class struggle is real.......in 1998, big city cats could own nice homes and cars for reasonable prices. Now all of that is out the window and maybe a 5-10% income increase that fails miserably...

Should be interesting to see where all of this goes, but it's a good thing I like the new cars these days to get by. :)

I recently saw a 1960s Alfa Giulietta Sprint Speciale up for sale for $170K! Damn, I almost bought one in 1997 for $19K CDN but passed on it because I thought it was too much as it needed lots of work (and I was still in school back then)! Arrggghhh!

 

In all fairness though, for 1976, the 308 GTB was the cat’s ass. A Mustang II had what, 110HP back then? All exotic cars were quite shitty in build quality and performance wasn’t what it used to be, but comparing amongst their peers, it was all one could get at the time. Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini (especially them) were all lucky to make it out of the ‘70s alive.

 

In the end, it’s nostalgia a person is buying, they have the money and not a lot of time left. Can you blame them?

Ok I have decided to call this the Clyde Chronicle’s or why  does the Ferrari Market Letter let stupid people advertise their car and their Name !

 

Ok so I am getting the Market newsletter again and low and behold nothing has  changed
