Peter, yes, exactly...

V8 hybrid to drive now while you collect parts to make it whole again.

The only way to rescue this is for parts. The starting bid of $1500 is a steal for the wheels alone. Seats, the odd trim piece, even the panels are great for repair or restoration for another car, but to make this a whole running car again? Way too much work needed, unless a rat-rod is considered (and ideal if a V-8 drivetrain is inserted).

I see this example the same way I see the trucks I’ve been pilfering at my local pick-a-part to “freshen up” my 1990 GM Sierra I’ve been working on the last while. As it was our old work truck, numerous trim pieces have either been broken or worn out from years of use and abuse. The stuff I’ve been finding at the scrap yard are in better shape! Plus, always pick up extras like radio amps, engine ECU’s, switches, etc.

It would be as fun as you want it to be.

A fun and reliable hybrid with a V8 would be easy to do while you source the original drivetrain.

And, you would still be rescuing a Ferrari.

Depends on purchase price of course...

I wouldn’t consider it fun.

It needs everything and would cost more than what it’s worth. A shame really as they’re great cars. Maligned much like my beloved GT4 (on looks alone), you couldn’t give these cars away quite some time ago. I should’ve bought the ex-Brussels Auto Show car and first production car more than ten years ago (S/N 5263). I think they were asking $55K. I would’ve had to sell the GT4 in order to get it. Another shame as shortly after it was sold, it was broken up for parts and the chassis modified for a replica... Uggghhh.

Along those lines, here’s another two “project” cars, that at least has bits to go with it. Not sure if it’s the original bits, but nonetheless:

250 Ellena

250 PF Cab
