I’ve used micro fiber for a long time and love them. But as Peter mentioned, you MUST keep them super clean. They literally pick up everything and never release it. If I accidentally drop one on the ground, it goes straight in the trash. Not worth saving as you will never get all the debris out and that’s a scratch danger for next time. Down here in SC, even bug parts get into them and won’t come out. So again, if it’s seen enough bugs from a car nose, straight in the trash. If you buy the big bags at CostCo throwing them out is way cheaper than a professional paint correction later.

 

Griots sells a special cleaner/detergent for them that dissolves wax and such when they go in a washing machine. Make sure you wash them in their own load or they’ll pick up fibers from every other material in the machine and then leave them on the car later.

 

And yes, Grahame, it is a little freaky how they hang on every little skin imperfection. I guess on a microscopic level we’re all pretty much hedgehogs.

I am interested as well; Micro fiber car towels are recommeded to wipe hoods before attaching magnetic fly rod holders!

Guys,

 

I’ve been using most expensive cotton towels to wash wax my cars for years. I always hated

synthetic fibers, however I’m reading that new micro fiber towels are softer than cotton?

 

I get Griots garage catalog, but wanted to hear some real-life experiences, and/or sources

for the very best ones, if you think they’re truly better than cotton???
