A very old booklet “Guru Reports – Special Report – Wax Test” rates 100% US cotton towels a must. Also micro fiber towels made in Korea tho most seem to be made in China. They should have a fiber count well over 150,000 per square inch and be a blend of 70/30 Polyester and Polyamide.
As for cleaning glass – a sharp razor held gingerly, 0000 steel wool (somewhat hard to find) and “Invisible Glass” cleaner. The spray can with the yellow top. Using the 0000 wool and Invisible Glass cleans off interior vinyl gas gunk extremely well. On the exterior windshield using the razor (gingerly) you’ll hear the tick tick tick as it cleans off micro dirt and bug chips. Word of Warning: Some Euro cars did a dumb safety aid - - they coated the INTERIOR windshild glass with a plastic. They noticed that body parts that hit a windshield while it wouldn’t shatter did break and the ensuing cracks cut the hell out of the persons parts that struck the glass. Sad thing is radar detectors windshield mounted suction cups and some cleaners wreck the glass coating. I think its pretty rare State Side.
Interesting site is ammonic.com Of course he’s the bestest and his stuff is the bestest but it’s an interesting set of vids. They really do a job on an F40

Guys,
I’ve been using most expensive cotton towels to wash wax my cars for years. I always hated
synthetic fibers, however I’m reading that new micro fiber towels are softer than cotton?
I get Griots garage catalog, but wanted to hear some real-life experiences, and/or sources
for the very best ones, if you think they’re truly better than cotton???
