" And there I was" The Migs were up above and the Sun glinted
off the the steely gun barrels below. I went full AB, did a reef sneef,
built up some smash, and then came up the back side and put the Sun at my
back while selecting master arm switch hot. Jimbo got a lock and I fired 2
Aim 7s; Fox 1, then the tone, fired 2 Aim 9s, Fox 2, Splash! Then closed
in for the gun kill, Fox 3!
Back at the bar, after a few cool ones, we reenacted the engagement
with hand flying. Just another day in the lives of Fighter Pilots!
Shit Hot Korat!!!

Subject: [Ferrari] Image on the grid
And more than a handful of race drivers from across all classes of
racing
Have flown in fighters from their own country and some fortunate to fly in
aircraft other than their own country
And many whom did not get their ticket punched by flying in a fighter
wished they had.
And there isn’t one of them who would turn down a ride, not one!
And some have said they would trade their job for flying those planes in a
heart beat.
There are at least 2 others on this list that have had the privilege to fly
such aircraft
And to put in perspective Lash if you think there is a lot of bravado and
testosterone on the grid of a formula one race, it nothing compared to a fighter
briefing or worse yet a de briefing.
Yet, and I speak from not even ever laid eyes on any of these two fine
gentlemen, that I can assure you their appearance and demeanor at a briefing and
especially at the end of a heated ACM ( what you would call a DOG FIGHT) would
be professional.
And I can assure you this as well, not one of us would like to lose in a
DOG FIGHT!
There is a saying “ I would rather die than look bad” and some have died
!
And when you win one, there is no in your face, it’s man aren’t we special
to be allowed to do this and have someone else pay us to do this.
It’s a privilege Lash at the highest level, without question.
All that being said you fail to see that being on that grid is a privilege,
earned yes but still that a privilege.
Just like my 2 comrades who did what I did.
And yes Lash image counts big time in that arena, and any other arena such
as that.
An so does swagger and all the other stuff that goes along with being a
certified bad ass
That why we wore patches on our flight suits that said so, and gee does a
race driver suit look like a flight suit ?
Hmm, anyway hopefully you get the 8x10 ie the picture ( Dragnet snap 230
bandits angels 30 hot, sorry I had to do that, PTSD from too many
intercepts)
Anyway getting back to the meat of the story Lash, when you’re doing that
type of work it counts.
This isn’t JZ on stage!
But maybe for you it is.
I will leave you with this Boss, make sure your next airline captain
doesn’t have corn rows and tattoos going down his neck and piercing nose
ring!
Because to you it’s just performance not image .
Or is it?
Beeper Beeper come up voice!
Scars are Tattoos with better stories !
If you have no enemies, you have no character !
