GP, awesome memories from one of DC’s finest!

I am sure you saw how it did in Monterey?

Lashdeep,

Thanks for sharing this!  I did not know that Adm Phillips was a special guest on Leno's Garage - excellent piece they did.

I got to meet Adm Phillips, his lovely wife, and their son Bryan, at FoW when they showed this car right after its Pebble Beach wins (and those Pebble trophies are *HEAVY*!!).  Incredibly nice people, every one of them.

There are a couple of other interesting stories there, too.  1)  Mrs. Phillips never rode in that car - until they drove it up the ramp at Pebble to accept their awards.  2)  The car was barely sorted out and the Pebble "tour" practically killed the clutch.  There was just enough clutch left to drive it up the ramp and then back off.  After that, they had to install a new clutch.

I also got to see this car run on the track at New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2010 (and even loaned my helmet for someone to ride w/ Adm Phillips - so my helmet rode in this car!!  😊 ).  It was GREAT seeing this car in action on the track, a very rare treat.

An amazing story of long term ownership.

The Admiral has done it all with this car.
