_________________________________________________________________CG, great review.I agree on TC and Rick. Roger E. Moseley was excellent in the original series and the TC character is sub par now.It is a tough bar to measure against. The original series is one of the few timeless TV shows in history. The writing and acting were/are excellent. The original pilot was basically a 308 GTS brochure with plenty to look at and also an excellent bit of television. The Magnum confronting Capt. Cooley scene is one of the best dramatic TV clips of all time.Sadly, times change. Viewers need CGI explosions and dramatic bass drops instead of scripts and character development.Tough to do without any spoilers, and I’ve only seen episode 1 so far, but my initial impressions:
1) You don’t need to re-introduce every character and every relationship from the old series in the first episode
2) TC and Rick are poorly cast. I’m fine with Magnum, and I do think you’re right about Higgins.
3) Some situations were grossly exaggerated and/or had lame special effects. Like what Michael Bay would’ve done in high school.
4) I did like how they got him back in a 308, even though that was far-fetched given Robin’s collection.
5) I did NOT like how they got him out of the 308. See #3.
6) The CBS iOS app is the worst piece of software ever written.
7) The CBS web site is the second worst piece of software ever written.8) The CBS AppleTV app was unusable as it only recognized CBS All Access subscriptions.
I’ll watch because I still love the original and I hope it will improve, but holy hell, the ending of E1 was a train wreck.

Okay, only two episodes in so not too much to make a judgement call, but, Yay or Nay?
It has it’s own charm, despite the fact that it’s too much a copy of the original. I think the new Higgins will be the star of the show and carry this for the rest of the series.
