Hilton Head, FCA event.  Honeymoon weekend.    All of us had way too much wine at dinner at a half way decent Italian place and decide to drive back to the hotel

 

Maybe we started egging each other on a bit and start pushing just a wee bit hard, We’re in the 365 chasing a friend in an F40.  Come around the corner and you could have seen the blue lights from space.  All of us have a pucker factor 11 moment.

 

Clutch in, act casual.

 

This line of Ferraris and a couple of Lamborghinis just putter through.  No one gets pulled over.

 

Some dingbat in a stolen car managed to bump a cruiser into the woods.  We all came up on it maybe 5, tops 10 minutes after the crash.  We could have been driving white Neons for all the cops cared.

 

Back at the Westin, I look at the F40 owner and say something like, hey Dr. X, weren’t you supposed to stop?  Dr. X’s wife looks at me, elbows her husband and says he’s just a radiologist, all he’d do is look down and go, geez, that’s got to hurt.  

 

Good times.

Few years ago I was in my 512TR on the PA Turnpike. Speeding.  Seriously speeding.  Stopped by a trooper.  I knew I couldn't be in too much trouble when, literally, the first words out of his mouth were "Nice car."  Nevertheless, no doubt due to the excessive speed (and "white privilege??), he felt obligated to give me some ticket.  (But, most importantly, with no points on my license.)  For some ridiculous infraction like ignoring signs.   (In this case, speed limit signs, I suppose.)  An illustration, as we all know, that they have incredible discretion to write you up for just about anything they damn please, even if it bears absolutely no resemblance to the facts.  (But who cares, if there are no points -- and, of course, no complimentary trip to the local lockup.)
