My Vanquish has essentially the same system. The Vanquish forum owners recommend going to neutral at a light. The Vanquish documentation says that as long as you have your foot on the brake that the clutch is fully disengaged. So it should be six of one / half dozen of the other, but I’ve never spoken to a knowledgeable tech about it.

That does presume that you’re not the kind of person to come to a stop and then take your foot off the brake if the car doesn’t creep. In that scenario, the clutch could be slipping somewhat. I never do that here in SC because it would mean your brake lights are off, and if someone approaches you from behind and your brake lights are off, they’ll likely hit you. Doesn’t matter if their eyes tell them you’re not moving – no brake lights means go…

I was under the impression that you should pull both paddles to get into neutral if you’re going to be stopped for a long period of time. Much like a true manual, it’s better to leave your foot off the clutch pedal and leave the stick in the neutral spot, so you’re not putting excessive load on the throw out bearing.

As I’m aware, these single clutch F1 boxes are just like a tradition manual (except for the shifting mechanism).

So

I take the phantom to the authorized dealer

Going to get F-1 fluid changed power steering fluid changed and fix the diff leak

Know them well

Know most of the techs

Know the service writer real well great guy

Tell him about the passenger side seat belt retractor from hell

It is locked in the “ never move position all the way back”

He walks up to it with 2 fingers

Jiggles the belt

And like it’s the Pope himself waving his hand over a crowd

The damn thing releases

WTF over

I must have done that same thing 300 times!

It’s all in the wrist as they say

Go figure

Clyde tip on driving an F-1 car in stop and go traffic

Stay manual and stay in 1st gear

Paddling out into neutral at stop only makes things worse for the clutch as far as I am concerned ( remember this is a CLYDISM not gospel, I’ve only got 450 or so miles on the car so far so stay tuned)

They are going to tell me how much clutch I have left with the magic SD-2

Sources tell me even when they put a new clutch in and they throw the SD on it it shows 85% remaining

DEEEES PEOPLE!!!!!

Anyway hopefully the phantom will be out of the hanger for my trip on Tuesday
