Sooo
I learned a lot today speaking to the lead tech on my 575.
When driving use the manual shift stay away the the auto mode
When slowing down to a stop light go into neutral DONT DOWN SHIFT ie 5-4-3-2
It tears up the clutch!
In other words treat it like a slush box
In stop and go traffic stay in first gear and accelerate easy once the clutch is full engaged
Your good to go from there on out
Change your transmission fluid yearly the same with your transaxle end fluid it’s the blood of the unit
With regards to the transaxle and F-1 fluid change you will never get all of it out on a flush so if you do it once every 15k miles you will eventually have fresh fluid in the boxes.
There is a small filter in the transaxle, make sure they take that out and clean it as well.
Also since I have a 512 TR I was unaware that this car had proportional steering in other words at slow speeds more assist as speed pick up less
My sensor was not connecting correctly, but I didn’t know this since it felt just like the 512 TR steering which has no power at all.
So if your 575 is hard to turn when the car is slow , now you know what the problem is.
Checking the engine oil level is done with the engine hot at idle !!!! Yes idle
And check it several times since it splashes around a lot.
Didn’t have a leak in the transaxle, it was something else and luckily I had an excellent tech who diagnosed it properly.
The car had a new clutch installed around 26/k when this is done the entire transaxle assembly has to come out and they’re are rear brackets that hold all of that stuff in place
The guy whom was at an authorized Ferrari dealership I might add, never properly aligned the transaxle and put it in at a slight angle when loaded up the box causing a seep, in fact he over torqued one of the bolts and stripped the thread, it was a mess but at least it’s done correctly now.
I can’t over emphasize that preventive maintenance is a must on this car
Get the phantom back tomorrow out of IRAN( inspect and repair as necessary)
Will report on the FCF and the deployment to MEI for a reunion
