Hey cLyDe, I have been seeing your emails. Even the repeats when you thought they weren’t getting out. Sorry if I haven’t mentioned it before. As for the engine bays of today, my friend who bought a 2019 GTC4 Lusso Turbo (so, the one with the V-8), had the hood open a while ago... After peering around the decorative plastic shroud in front of the intake plenums, I looked down, towards the front of the engine and noticed there was room for a small beer fridge to be placed there. Reminded me of the engine bays of the ‘70s domestic cars. I suppose the V-12, with the AWD set-up fills up that space normally. Either way, it truly is a front, mid-engine layout. I put over 1 k miles in the phantom this weekend
Started out getting 18 mpg ended up with 22 mpg at speeds around 80
It was Africa hot with a heat index of 103 everywhere
Car never knew it, they must have tested these things in Death Valley
Temps and pressures were normal A/C worked like a champ
Running 31 psi in the tires instead of 29
The F-1 tranny works great
I am noticing a slight double shift maybe when I go from 4-5-6
It’s like the clutch is finding itself just a slight hesitation as I accelerate
Maybe it’s me?
Car pulls don’t sense any slipping whatsoever
Question to those out there who have owned F-1 tyranny’s
When manually shifting do you let up on the gas like you would do in a slush box?
I haven’t been doing that with this car
Techniques ?
Anyway the car is stealth they never see it coming ( Klingon cloaking device on!)
3 rd gear acceleration is like an unloaded extension in a fighter (sorry about that guys, zero G means Zero lift and now the engines are pushing you like no tomorrow, right Rick)
It a total rush,
Glad I made the leap to the 575, I drove a 612 for a weekend a while back loved it, but the 575 is in a class by itself for the money
And to do the belts you don’t have to move the steering rack!
Who thought that one out ?
That alone makes the 575 easy money as far as I am concerned
Can’t Speak to the 599 or FF or any of the newer models but how much more do you need?
Don’t get me wrong guys, the 512 TR will always be my ace, but man did they Ferrari really improve the car in 10 years
512TR=F-4E J-79-15 engines
575=F-15C F100 PW-229
And remember this guys
Never go vertical unless you can own it!
