Clyde,

Please elaborate on your "mod for that" regarding the marginal A/C. Specifically in my 308QV.

I know Rick Lindsay has discussed a mod he did with his 2V carbed 308, and I'm waiting for the right time (e.g.-new piston rings probably come before upgrading the A/C), but this is on my list and the more I know.....

Thanks,
-matt

I’ve never overheated my 308. Even when it had a clogged radiator and the wrong thermostat. When I corrected those issues, it’s been running perfect ever since.

With over 5 gallons of coolant circulating through the system, unless the thermostat is glued shut it would be impossible for the thing to overheat.

I distinctly remember when driving down to Concorso Italiano in 2004(!), I bombed down the I-5 all the way, there and back from Vancouver, 2200 miles round-trip, it ran like a champ. Got stuck in rush-hour traffic outside of San Jose and I was sweating more than the car was! The run back home north, just after Vacaville all the way to Redding, outside temps were pushing close to 100F. Windows open, no A/C, it was fine...

Great video!

Ok so no Ferrari owner wants this video ( did you guys get it ?)
There seems to be this myth of catastrophic failure of the cars costing thousands
Listen I live in the south with these cars for over 25 years, in my humble opinion if you don’t overheat the car it will go for 100k miles easy.
Never had a catastrophic failure of any major component on a Ferrari (ie belt broke took out a head, water pump failure, Raditor failure, etc etc)
But with over 200k in the seat of these cars ( 140k in a 308 and 100k in the 512, 575 3k and counting)
Why don’t people drive them?
Mine has never left me stranded anywhere?
I just don’t get it, I mean the early ones the 2 valves are about as much fun as a bowel movement
But the 4 valve cars and the 12 cylinder cars?
Please these things are great
Now don’t get me wrong the a/c in the early cars was marginal
But there’s a mod for that now
I feel sorry for you lurkers out there as well
Go get one and you will see what I mean
You only live once guys and girls
Get a prancing horse and ride it!
