I am going to put an asbestos sleeve around the 2 new hoses
I think the heat in that area effect the hose life
I put and asbestos sleeve on the clutch line to the 512
Made a huge difference in clutch pedal operation

Clyde,

I had to replace the power steering lines on my 2004 575M a little over a year ago at circa 35K miles.

As I recall, they had to be custom made in Italy and took about a week and a half to get delivery.

Only one of the originals was leaking, but I was required to buy the pair of new ones (…..which I would have done anyway. Sure as hell, I’d replace the leaker and 100 miles later the second one would leak)

The replacement power steering lines weren’t cheap, as I recall….about $1500 USD for the pair.

In my experience, any part for a Ferrari is 3 to 4 times the cost of similar parts for American machines. Same thing for tee shirts, polo shirts….anything with the Ferrari logo.

At the same time, I had fluid replacements and flushes of brake system, coolant system, gear box, and power steering system. All clean….no leaks.

In general, I think the quality of Italian automotive hoses is subpar. I replace the coolant hoses underneath the induction system with silicone hoses.

Dick Petrick
