I don't know for sure, just hypothesizing here (or perhaps just stating the painfully obvious...), but could it be that very few Ferrari owners are as enthusiastic as you about DIY maintenance?  That they feel they've spend a lot of money and, apart from routine servicing, the car should just start and go every time they turn the key (or press the button)?  Might not be pessimism so much as simply an entirely different mentality and attitude about the cars (which of course may feed into some pessimism, I suppose....).  Again, just spit-balling here....
