I suppose then, they’re representative of the kinds of cars that they are – the Mondial was always meant to be a grand tourer, the 348 is the “sports” car.

Although, by the time the 348 was released, the Mondial platform already had about ten years on it... Which was loosely based on the 308 GT4... Which the GT4 was essentially a stretched Dino...

When my friend had his ’94 348 Spider, there were several times I rode shotgun on club drives when my 308 was down for repairs. He had plenty of track experience so I had full faith in him when he really pushed that thing on the street. And I mean, push it. I know the 348 got a lot of criticism for it’s handling but this thing was really glued to the pavement. It was considered an old car by that time, but I was impressed.

Peter,

The 348 being a euro version has noticeably more power. It also only has 26k kilometers (~16k+ miles) on the car, where as the Mondial has over 101K+ miles.  I’ve driven both cars on two different race tracks, Roebling Road and Road Atlanta. The Mondial is very predictable and a handles very well. The 348 is also very predictable but is far more of a true track car in overall handling and feel. The stock seats in the 348 are excellent and you do not feel like you need a special harness or other support and restraints. The Mondial is a different story. The seats are not terribly comfortable, especially on the track, and provide very little side support so in a stock configuration on the track you are struggling to stay planted in the seat.

Both are a joy to drive in different ways, but of the two I prefer the feel of the 348 by far.

Best,
Cody

The Monidal and this are a real nice collection!

Considering they both use the same drivetrain, do you feel any difference in power/character between the two?
