Good read on MIT's connection to the Apollo program -

the father of MIT's Instrumentation Lab and the inventor of
inertial guidance. Back in the day I was attending a symposium at
MIT and found myself seated next to his daughter Martha who was
called "Marty." She was convinced that we must have been related
since we shared most the same name.
