At least on my GT4, the three centre vents need to be positioned in a way that distributes the air over the whole windshield. The two end vents need to be totally turned to either side with the flaps at about a 45 degree angle and the centre vent needs to be pointing straight up, dead centre. Temperature set fully hot. Even in the most humid rain I’ve driven the car in (admittedly, not as humid as eastern Canada), the windshield and the door windows stay clear.

 

You’re luckier, the later 308s like yours comes with additional vents at the corners of the dashboard.

 

If you’re having trouble keeping your windows clear, maybe the air ducts, or inlets are clogged. Or, the cables connected to the levers are not allowing the vents to open properly. That was a big issue with my car when I bought it. I replaced all of the cable runs with bicycle brake cable housing (which is Teflon-lined) and they operate like a hot knife slicing through butter... One finger operation.

I have a 1981 308 GTSi: The owner’s manual on page 44 says the  4 knobs are set this way: #57-RED mark towards the front and BLUE mark towards the back -driver side/ #58- DEF / #59- DEF / #61- RED - BLUE (same way) passenger side.
But on my car, it’s 57-61-58-59 (red-blue, red-blue, def, def).

How come ?

I never use them, actually got caught in the rain last month and the defrost (air towards the windshield) worked a bit. My mechanic laugh when he saw me arriving and said these car are not good in the rain for that reason. I had plenty of fog for the 20 minute ride.
Plus, my #61 is loose, it’s not attached to anything, or so it seems.
