Can't remember specifically for this sending unit, but many of them
require a special socket available at most tool stores. For like
$5-$10. Not a big deal. But the Ferrari one might not.

When I did it several years ago, an exact replacement was not
available. There is a substitute one that has different threads. All
that is needed is a simple brass adapter from the hardware store,
which actually makes it easier next time you need to change it.

The sender screws into an adapter on top of the block. Can't remember
off the top of my head why, but it was necessary for me to remove this
piece. I think it had to do with fitting the brass thread adapter.
To replace, you will need the gasket. Probably the biggest concern
doing this is scraping the old gasket off. Gasket bits could fall
into the main oil feed hole, and this would be a *very bad* thing. I
stuck my finger in the hole while I was scraping off the gasket
material. Gouged myself a few times with the scraper, but that seems
unavoidable while working on Italian cars. A little blood in the oil
would make Enzo proud.

A bit of teflon tape for the threads, and you should be good to go.
It's really not that difficult, like a half hour, including the usual
multiple trips to the tool box and the fridge for more beer.

Hans.
