Rules? RULES? We don’t need no stinkin’ rules. ..
“… the Cannonball Baker would be undertaken with a minimum of regulations. In fact, I imagined that its purposes could be articulated in a matter of a few words, i.e.: ’Entrants must drive a land-based vehicle of any configuration, with any size crew, over any route they choose, at any speed they deem practical, between New York and Los Angeles. The car covering the distance between the start and the finish in the briefest time will be the winner. There are no other rules.’”

?Knowing better? has no affect when in the throes of competition. Interpretation is in the mind of the crafty. If it?s not explicitly excluded by the rules (yet), exploit the rules with the technology in front of you. My heroes in F1 have always been the engineers (Terrell, Murray, Brawn, Newey, etc). If this is true, this is precisely the guile that makes F1 fascinating (for me). And, it doesn?t happen enough. Level playing fields are for the addled. Want a driver?s series? watch Indy cars.
For the same reasons, I?m thankful people like our own Dr. E are on my side in the field of Weapons technology.
As the Great Smokey Yunick said... it?s my job to cheat. It?s their job to catch me.?
