On behalf of Matt Boyd who reminds us “When I see a rusted out frame I say "no."” It was in the mid 80’s when a neighbor who was quite who was attached to ‘Merican Muscle” zerod in on an early Corvette. His reasoning was the same – I hate rust and since a Corvette is made of fiberglass . . . When the body came off he learned . . . . OK Charlie – Corvettes ain’t ALL fiberglass. Oww weee – the steel frame was Swiss cheese. That was a lesson I learned at the expense of my neighbor. Doug From: Ferrari <ferrari-bounces+dnt=dock.net [at] ferrarilist.com> On Behalf Of Matt Boyd Cool, Charles, yeah, the z cars were quite desirable for the high school/college kid back then. Ours was Jennifer's and then ours. It was white with a red/wine interior, no 2+2. It had the Datsun by Nissan and I thought it was the last year of that, but I guess not. :) Jennifer's Dad partially bought it for her in high school -- she paid for a bunch of it. I told him over the years that someday when we went to sell it, we'd sell it to him for $1. He always loved the car. It had some rust issues (no surprise). It started having some issues where it would randomly die and then you couldn't restart it (something electrical). The day that happened to her in a busy intersection, I decided it was time to collect on the $1 because I was tired of troubleshooting. That was over 25 years ago and I still haven't seen the dollar. Meanwhile, instead of troubleshooting it, he parked it and now it sits at a separate property OUTSIDE of the pole barn he built on the property. I haven't seen it in probably 20 years but my son saw it a few years ago and it's completely trashed with rust and such. It's done. Carter and I looked at a 240 or 260 a few years ago as he wanted something fun. When I see a rusted out frame I say "no." Floorboards or bodywork are one thing, but....and I think most that haven't been lovingly cared for will see that rusted out frame.
