That said; I’ve made several nut wrenches by cutting a notch just big enough for the hose in a closed end wrench (preferably a 6 sided one for strength) When heating a nut, rather than go slowly and over wide surface, I was taught to heat a pinpoint as hot as I could get it, listen for a ping, and hit it. This heats the nut w/o heating the fitting and get’s maximum expansion of nut in relation to fitting. To my recollection, this has never failed me. Finally, If dry ice is available, I’ve used it in place of wet rag. Hope this helps. bill Sent from Mail for Windows 10 |
