I think it was well explained and shown in the graphs.

But, even seeing the data from another driver doesn't mean you can do it too.

 

I think it's also a level of concentration some people can reach and maintain for extended periods.  I experienced it to some extent putting a 60,000 lb aircraft onto a boat in rough seas, rain and darkness.  That was 7 minutes (maybe), not an hour and a half.  It was mentally exhausting.

 

I don't remember the track or the year but what sold me on Schumacher's talent was when he entered a chicane and as he was  finishing the first section his hand rotated the wheel up, it came off, adjusted his side mirror and came back to the wheel just as it started to turn the opposite direction to make the second part of the chicane.   That was poetry in motion (and timing) that many ballerinas couldn't accomplish sitting still.   I wish someone would find that video.
