Just like Rob, Mike was very generous with his time, letting me tour his shop whenever I was in Costa Mesa on family trips back in the ‘90s. I don’t remember reading any formal announcement in recent years, but I’m guessing he’s retired (or semi-retired) from selling cars and has passed the business on to his daughter.

 

What I’d like to see in videos of cars for sale is the color of the exhaust when they step on it while driving by. Lets hear the car idling to see if it can maintain a smooth idle (without having to be nursed with prods of the gas pedal). Point out flaws or other details that may have been missed when photos were being taken. Videos are moving pictures with sound attached, so lets see and hear stuff that go beyond what’s shown in the photo galleries. Let’s see how the owner drives the car. That’s a really good indication of how the car was treated in it’s life (slipping the clutch, ham-fisting the gear lever through the gate, etc).

 

What I don’t want to hear about are production and generalized history details. If a person is interested in a car like this, they KNOW all of that. If anything needs to be mentioned, talk about stuff that is unique to THIS CAR. It was owned by so-and-so*, or it was in a movie, or it’s the only one in this color, etc.

P.S. * There’s this 308 GTB here in Vancouver that is a regular at the usual events. It was owned by Christie Brinkley and the owner is not shy to always point that out to people when they ask about the car (not the car in the movie, but one that was given to her as a gift, I think when she was married to Billy Joel). He does get often from older men if they can sniff the seat... His reply to that? “Well, she last sat in this car about 25 years ago, so you won’t be smelling her ass but mine!” The conversation stops after that... 😊

I cant speak for the Colonel but the $200 ripped jeans I never understood!  Ha Mine almost all end up like that!

She probably smarter than half the Ferrari owners now. A red CA was behind my GT4 yesterday, pulled up

next to me, and had no idea I was in a Ferrari……

 

Her Dad was always nice to me.

 

He shared with me how his business, European Auto Restoration was destroyed by  being harassed by very wealthy

foreign interests, I think possibly with links to org. crime…. I went by his shop years ago before I had a Ferrari,

and he let me poke around some amazing cars there…….
