I see a lot of paddle-shifted cars listed as manuals. I don’t think it’s a mistake – I think it’s a combination of their pretense that if you’re the one pulling the paddles, it’s still technically manually shifted (even though they all have a full auto mode available), and that many of the automotive listing sites haven’t kept pace and don’t have a third transmission choice for a DCT/SMG/automated manual in their checkboxes, and so you have to choose whether you feel like those are at heart more automatic or more manual. They can certainly be driven either way by someone depending on their preference.

 

To my mind, a manual has a 3^rd pedal, but not everyone would choose that definition.
