Matt - interesting comment and valid perspective IMHO. I was once
up at FOW, pondering the engine of an FF, hidden under all that plastic. I commented to one of the service guys there "Who on earth is going to be able to restore these in 30, 40, 50 years??" His reply? "Who cares!!"
Yep, that's it right there. Ferraris have become disposable commodities. [in fact, was it here that I just read recently that 27 years (??) is the approximate borderline between "old car" and "collectible"? I suspect that number is going to get larger and
larger....]
FWIW, YMMV, yadda yadda.....

Hmm, please expound upon your statement that "As with any exotic, the usage costs will come down with age." Thinking of each version of an F1 transmission/shifting design being superceded every couple years, it scares me to think about how things will be repaired decades down the road. |
