Thank you - everyone- for the input.

For the record NOT my barn - the wife’s horse’s trainers barn.

We DO have a barn - Cavallino Farms - but it is down here, in town, and is only 2 acres.  I get by with a standard home modem

The trainers barn is up in Ocala - the horse capital of the world - where land is still cheap and plentiful.

Headed up in a few weeks when the new horse arrives - three haired western pleasure - for Charles and anyone else that might know or care.  Bring the drone to do some FPV flying can send pics if anyone wants to see.

Thanks again for the help. I’ll be back once I try to install!!  Lol.

We have the same issue on our little farm. We're a good bit smaller than you (23 acres). Outdoor areas within a few hundred feet of the house are served with Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR long-range access points. For my shed, which is a good distance from the house and through heavy tree cover, I use Ubiquiti NanoStation Loco M900s. These are point-to-point devices. The one at the house functions as a highly directional WAP, the one at the shed functions as a receiver/bridge. Then I can add more access points at the shed. These are low-frequency (900 Mhz as opposed to normal Wi-Fi in the 2.4-5 GHz range), so they travel through obstructions like foliage way better than standard wi-fi.

You do need power at each end, but I think you'd be happily surprised at the range those two devices can get you, and Ubiquiti devices are both reliable and cheap (Amazon). A rarity. Only downside is that they are not terribly user friendly and they have no direct tech support. But if you're willing to do some reading on their support forums, their stuff is impressive.

Subject: [Ferrari] Brain Trust question

Hey brilliant Ferrari friends:

Our horse trainer has a WiFi networking problem that I am trying to help her solve.

The training barn - in Ocala, FL - sits on about 90 acres.  There are a couple of barns and outbuilding scattered about the property - but it is mostly empty farmland.

We are trying to achieve the maximum possible WiFi coverage but are limited by where we have access to power.

It is important, because cell coverage is spotty - WiFi could fill that gap and provide some much needed peace of mind - in the event of an emergency.

Personally, I don’t get far beyond hacking into my spectrum modem to improve speeds.

Do any of my brilliant friends have an idea for a long range wifi solution?

Thank you in advance.

Scottie
