Not my garage, but the kitchen

Priceless? I think so Luke. More than 20 years old and I doubt if I'll ever
duplicate that trip.

It was an era between my 1979 trip and eating at the Pizzeria Cavallino -
just like a normal deli across the street from the tiny factory, foundry,
machine shops and final assembly - and now; a full on veritable Ferrari
Disneyland. It was a time period just before Ferrari's and most notably
Porsche's marketing departments conjured up a strategy: If we sell
memorabilia, we can make more money than selling cars. And they did and do.
Maybe. And as a result, shut down resources for all patches, jackets, pins
and pencils not sold thru the factory.

We have one set of dishes and coffee cups displayed with the water and two
wine glasses with their etched Cavallino on each glass in a display cabinet.
But I have to confess - no one has ever looked at the display and
genuflected or even said "oooowwwhaa." Even tho I have electric votive
candles lit on either side. So much for my Ford, Chevy, and Tesla friends.

But I like them, my friends and the dishes.

Cheers
Doug

Wow - that's a lot of corks.
I have eBay's auto search on for anything Cavallino Ristorante - nothing has
come up in years. Well, a few post cards and a bag.
BUT - when we were at the factory in 1999 we had lunch at the Ristorante.
I asked how to buy coffee cup, salad plate, soup bowl and wine glasses.
Ohhhh, we can not do that. What about used but nice? And we worked out a
deal. I have four sets. No flat wear. It was relatively cheap because I
think when Luigi looked under the table and took the money he put it in the
jar for his son's college education. No really. I'm almost positive.

Yes, they are mine. I told my friends to keep all their corks for me. It
took a few years to collect so many and one summer a few years ago I just
did this. I think the big one has around 800 corks. I even fabricated the
frame. The Cavallino Ristorante sign was an enormous challenge. I wanted the
exact lettering as in the restaurant itself in Maranello.
