Absolutely true! My favorite modern Ferrari is the 488 Pista Spider. There are loads of them on the market (carrying premiums from sticker, obviously), but almost all of them have some horrifying bit of “personalization.” I’ve seen it where the whole car is bad (tree frog green or seriously violet), but usually it’s just an interior that has way too many colors and textures going on. Sometimes restraint = beauty.

 

Attached are some pictures I saved from the 488 Pista configurator back when it was live. It’s how I would’ve equipped one if I could’ve gotten a build and wanted to spend that much money. I don’t really have Pista money to spend on a car, but if I found this exact spec I just don’t know what I would do. As is, most of the ones offered are so offensive that I don’t have to be upset at not being able to afford them…

A couple of months ago I tried to start something on the list and didn’t get many replies. My point was having your Ferrari “too personalized” and/or too much “tailor made” as Ferrari calls it now, isn’t a good idea in the long run because when you want to sell it, many potential buyers will back away because of whatever you put in doesn’t go with their own personal choice. And changing those tailor made items is just too expensive.

Case in point, that red steering wheel on that 550 in the BAT ad has got to be the ugliest steering wheel I have ever seen on ANY car.

How much can it cost to have it in black ?

 

if I ever have enough money to buy a brand new Ferrari, I would tell the salesman at the dealership “ rosso corsa on the outside and black leather inside” and give me whatever comes standard with the model.
