Why buy a Ferrari when a carbon fiber bodied Dodge with a huge wing will decimate it on a road course?

It is not about actually using that performance but the fact that it can do it.

It sure doesn’t hurt that Dodge and the Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo use the exact same carbon Brembo brakes, BBS wheels, Bilstein shocks and Recaro seats as each other.

Why pay more for the same stuff when you can get it cheaper in a different looking package?

This phenomenon created Costco...

The majority of Ferrari owners 98% of them buy the car to say they own one period.
They don’t drive them( hence the low mileage of older cars ) it for status period.
Having owned them since the 80’s I found this to be the case.
And I can already hear those saying
It’s their money Yadda yadda yadda and yes it’s is
However that’s been Ferraris marketing strategy, buy my car, don’t drive it, and then sell it at a loss. ( yes there are exceptions)
I mean it’s a gold mine to own a dealership, much like where I vacation in the winter (SBH) we charge what we want when we want and to whom we want.
Personally I love it because I get to buy quarter of a million dollar cars for more than half price that haven’t been used.
It’s a piece of cake
The Porsche crowd is the same, BMW crowd used to be that way in the early 80’s but they became more mainstream and levelheaded
I doubt if there is anyone owner that has as many seat miles in street a Ferrari than myself
And I have worked one many models
I put  over 100k on a 308 before I sold it, my 512 has 111k plus and my 575 ( bought it with 10k, biggest write up dead battery) is at 48k( bought it with 26k)
So to each there own I say
You want a deal there is a SA on bring a trailer right now at $91k offer $100k and it’s yours, top does it work but hey you didn’t buy it for the top, right?
I bought mine to drive not wash and wax
Get out and drive the cars you worked so hard for

Good Morning ladies and gentlemen this is Captain Romero welcome aboard American Airlines flight 981 Charlotte to St. Martin total flying time is 3:58 if I don’t get lost!

I think Deep is on to something. There are a lot of high performance cars available and not all of them are exotics like Ferrari.

While Ferrari’s road cars performance is higher than most others, many other brands offer performance that far exceeds what can be used in public roads.  Do many enthusiasts really appreciate and value the performance difference of Ferrari when others may be relatively lower but are still a multiple of what can be used safely on the road?

So far the stock price hasn’t suffered at all but for how long?
