So I have been on this list for more years than I care to admit. I had been looking for a 308 but the market seems to have priced me out at the moment. I defected and bought a 2005 SL600 for now. But back to the subject, I fail to see how the quantity of Google searches is an indicator for any kind of success. Maybe it’s just me. Seems more like click bait.

_________________________________________________________________John and Scottie, I agree totally about why WE are here and in our Ferraris!I wouldn’t trade the experiences and friends made for anything.Ferrari popularity (as mentioned in the article) is not down because of us on this List it is because of other people wanting more out of the newer cars. And, the newer Ferrari have serious competition in styling and performance. Also, if you attend modern FIA/ALMS/IMSA/BPR/Blancpain (or whatever production based international GT racing is called this week) events, it is not Ferrari and Porsche winning all the time anymore. The choices for a 400+ HP fun and very capable car are almost endless today. On Mar 4, 2021, at 11:08, Jashburne via Ferrari <ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com> wrote:Well said, ScottieI have had many great car guy conversations either at the track or at car shows with people who have and race big collections of Ferraris and other cars. One fun one was at Lime Rock years ago where I had a good conversation with Tom Price about the red duct tape on his 250GT SWB and how he pranged it at Mt Tremblant a couple of weeks earlier.John_________________________________________________________________Sent from my iPhoneOn Mar 4, 2021, at 10:46 AM, scott saidel <Scott_Saidel [at] hotmail.com> wrote: For me -
about the exclusivity - it is nice to have something “special” - a shark among the minnows._________________________________________________________________
about the shared experience - spend enough time (like a minute) in Ferrari world and you will find yourself frustrated by your red-handed mistress, and everyone else, who have already been there, will be there to commiserate.
about the art - the shape of the car, the beauty of the details, the sound of the engine. Ain’t getting that in a Dodge.
about the history - you can make similar argument about Porsche, Aston, even M-B but Ferrari, at least in this regard, IS Ferrari.
BUT, having spent years in and among - it is the people. Like this group. The common passion brought together this amazing group, I never see or hear attitude (and I know many have reason to be more than proud of their accomplishments) and everyone is always eager to step up. This “brain trust” is often my first resource - especially when I have obscure questions.
When I was helping organize large events, the Ferrari guys were almost always the easiest to manage. Came when asked, followed the rules, kept things safe sane and organized. Lambo guys … well, at least the open shirt, gold chain, rippling muscles crowd in South Florida … not so much. Of course, exceptions to every rule, but in general.
Finally, even the top of the top collectors are down to earth and approachable, at least about their cars. I once met Mr. Marriott at Cavallino, when I was drooling over one of his cars. He spent half an hour discussing its recent restoration. At the time, I had a girlfriend that was an all-star in the Marriott organization. As an award for several years of record setting numbers, she got a half hour audience with him. All I did was admire a very admirable car.
Stroll, Shirley, Leno, Bachman, Fux … so many more I can’t think of, have all been generous with their time and knowledge over the years. I often imagine how hard, if not impossible, it would have been to reach them in their professional capacities.

Why buy a Ferrari when a carbon fiber bodied Dodge with a huge wing will decimate it on a road course?
It is not about actually using that performance but the fact that it can do it.
It sure doesn’t hurt that Dodge and the Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo use the exact same carbon Brembo brakes, BBS wheels, Bilstein shocks and Recaro seats as each other.
Why pay more for the same stuff when you can get it cheaper in a different looking package?
This phenomenon created Costco...

( yes there are exceptions)I mean it’s a gold mine to own a dealership, much like where I vacation in the winter (SBH) we charge what we want when we want and to whom we want.Personally I love it because I get to buy quarter of a million dollar cars for more than half price that haven’t been used. It’s a piece of cakeThe Porsche crowd is the same, BMW crowd used to be that way in the early 80’s but they became more mainstream and levelheadedI doubt if there is anyone owner that has as many seat miles in street a Ferrari than myselfAnd I have worked one many modelsI put over 100k on a 308 before I sold it, my 512 has 111k plus and my 575 ( bought it with 10k, biggest write up dead battery) is at 48k( bought it with 26k)So to each there own I sayYou want a deal there is a SA on bring a trailer right now at $91k offer $100k and it’s yours, top does it work but hey you didn’t buy it for the top, right?I bought mine to drive not wash and waxGet out and drive the cars you worked so hard for

I think Deep is on to something. There are a lot of high performance cars available and not all of them are exotics like Ferrari.
While Ferrari’s road cars performance is higher than most others, many other brands offer performance that far exceeds what can be used in public roads. Do many enthusiasts really appreciate and value the performance difference of Ferrari when others may be relatively lower but are still a multiple of what can be used safely on the road?
So far the stock price hasn’t suffered at all but for how long?
